2nd Gdynia Forum discussed TENTacle results for an innovative, environmentally friendly urban node
On 15 December 2016, the second Gdynia Forum of the Baltic-Adriatic Corridor took place, organized by TENTacle partner City Hall of Gdynia.
About 50 participants representing Gdynia urban node stakeholders and TENTacle associated organizations discussed the results of the enquiry performed in the last months. Also, the results of the survey “Gdynia - My City 2030” which included opinions of the City residents, were presented.
With more than 200 proposals submitted, the most votes received:
a) new roads: the Red Road, Northern Bypass of the Tricity Agglomeration and the modernization of Kwiatkowski Route.
b) railways modernisation: Warsaw - Gdynia line 202, Bydgoszcz-Gdynia line 201 - with Gdynia Port public freight terminal.
The participants also highlighted the importance of port capacity to handle larger ships (the larger and deeper turning basin no. 2) and development of infrastructure of the passenger traffic (new ferry terminal).
These demands coincide with recommendations of the Work Plan for the Coordinator of the EU Baltic-Adriatic Corridor and mentioned already scientific expertise.
Both enquiries and also the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for Gdynia (adopted by the City Council in October 2016 - as a result of the Civitas Dyn@mo project) provide sufficient data to develop a vision for an innovative, environmentally friendly Gdynia urban node useful for pilot case study.
The results of the TENTacle enquiry were consolidated with outputs of other relevant transport EU projects like the BGLC and strategic documents. Together they will enhance general awareness of current driving forces and trends building Gdynia urban node foresight in 2030-2050 perspective (Green Book of the urban node in Gdynia).
The third Gdynia Forum is planned for April 2017. The key aim will be to accept the “Green Book of the urban node in Gdynia” as the framework of the TENTacle Pilot Case Gdynia - pilot study for the Gdynia urban/transport node.
